Why LocalBusiness schema matters
Search engines and AI assistants read a business's details from many places: the website, Google Business Profile and directories. Schema puts the key facts, such as name, address, phone and hours, in one clear, machine-readable block on the business's own site.
The rule that matters most is consistency. The same name, address and phone everywhere makes it easier for search engines to trust the details and connect them to the right business.
Questions
What is LocalBusiness schema?
It is a small block of code (structured data in JSON-LD format) that describes a business: its name, type, address, phone, opening hours and more, in a format search engines can read reliably.
Will schema markup improve my rankings?
Schema helps search engines understand a business, but it does not guarantee higher rankings or special search results. Think of it as making your key details clear and consistent, not as a shortcut.
Where do I paste the code?
Put it on the page about the business, usually the homepage or the contact or location page. Paste it in the page's head section, or use your SEO plugin's custom code or header box if you use WordPress.
I don't have a shop or office. What should I do?
Tick "Service-area business". The street address is left out and you can list the cities or areas you serve instead, the same way Google Business Profile handles service-area businesses.
Should it match my Google Business Profile?
Yes. Use the same business name, address and phone number as your Google Business Profile and your website, and only mark up details that are also visible on the page.
I have several locations. How do I handle that?
Create one schema block per location and put each on its own location page, with that location's address, phone and page URL.
Is this tool free? Is my data stored?
It is free with no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to or stored on our servers.
